What you'll do
- Perform maintenance and repair of equipment and vehicles and heavy equipment (Car, Truck, Backhoe, Trencher, Directional Bore, Digger Derrick, Pole/Bucket Truck)
- Troubleshoot problems on engines and order parts as needed
- Repair, test, and drive or operate after repair/maintenance
- Drive or operate diesel or gasoline powered equipment to/from/on jobsite as needed
- Inspect vehicles for defects
- Perform work (to include physical labor i.e. using hand tools, lifting materials on average up to 50 lbs, etc.) under direction of Supervisor
What you'll need
- To be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
- Valid state driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
- Mechanics may be expected to provide their own standard tools. The shop will supply large-diameter and specialty tools as needed
- A minimum of 1 year experience as a mechanic, preferably with a focus on fleet vehicles or commercial equipment
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Proficient in diagnostic tools and equipment
Physical abilities & exposures
- Routinely: Climb stairs, lift between 26 and 55 pounds, bend, stoop, fine hand motion, squeeze, stand, use portable ladder, walk, work in confined spaces, work with arms above shoulder level, operate heavy machinery and vehicles
- Occasionally: use keyboard & mouse, lift greater than 55 pounds, work alone in remote locations, and at heights
